The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program provides educational opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other status or condition protected by applicable laws, provided that an individual’s qualifications meet the criteria established for admission to the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

General Education Requirements 

  • Graduate from an accredited high school or GED (General Equivalency Diploma);
  • Successful completion of the following coursework from an accredited institution with a “C” or better:
    • College Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning, Pre-calculus or Statistics - 3 semester credits
    • College Physics or Radiologic Physics - 4 semester credits
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology I or II (completed within 10 years) - 4 semester credits
    • English Composition I or II - 3 semester credits
    • General Psychology (Introduction or Developmental) - 3 semester credits

This is a total of five (5) pre-requisite courses equaling 17 semester college credits.

Prerequisite coursework above with a combined 2.5 GPA or better.

Additional Requirements 

  • Completion of one of the following:
    • A human health career program in one of the following disciplines: Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, Nuclear Medicine, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Dental Assistant, and/or Surgical Technology. Proof of completion must be uploaded to the application.
  • Or
    • 900 direct patient care hours, verified by supervisor using the form here: (upload this document as a PDF). This completed form must be uploaded to the application.
  • Attend an Information Session prior to the application deadline. Click here for dates and more information.
  • Personal interview with a faculty member.
  • Applicants who are not a U.S. citizen by birth must provide immigration or citizenship documentation. The school does not participate in the SEVIS program;
  • Negative complete criminal history screen child protective screen, and drug screen. (Screening will be completed after acceptance into the program).
